A chimpanzee recognizes a face as a human (assignment 5)
The skill inherited from common ancestors A human recognizes faces faster and in a different way than other characters. Before this had been only considered as our ability but now it has turned out chimpanzees also detect the face just as effectively as humans. The thing worked out when Japanese Masaki Tomonaga and Tomoko Imura teached three female chimpanzees to find for example cars, bananas, faces among other pictures. Chimpanzees spotted their same species comrades face nimbler than other pictures. The reverse face is not visible in humans, face recognition is based on the rapid perception of the whole, and the same seems to apply to chimpanzees. Just like humans chimpanzees recognized faces much worse when the image was turned upside down. Also hiding the eyes, nose, and mouth made the process much slower.
